We’ve already seen a Google Play Store and Gmail app update today, and now there’s an updated Google Play Newsstand to throw in the mix too. Google Play Newsstand version 3.3.1 has appeared, and although it has only a small increment over version 3.3 which introduced the Material Design makeover, it has increased its size from 7.79MB to 8.23MB. Nothing too serious, but there’s probably a few changes you might notice. As you can see above, the slide out menu has had a few changes, namely adding a spot of colour the the currently selected sub-menu as well as adding a toggle to switch between viewing only content that has been downloaded to your device.

The other notable change that we noticed is that the “Getting Started” sections in each tab have been compacted so that it doesn’t take up the whole screen as it used to. Minor stuff, but probably makes the experience just that little bit smoother, or more intuitive. It’s alleged that an issue with the app reported on Android Lollipop has been resolved, but we don’t have a device to verify this.
