New developer figures show Jelly Bean nearing 50% adoption

Share

Android Jelly Bean versions 4.1 and 4.2 (and while it’s not listed in the report, we assume 4.3) is now running on roughly 45% of activated devices, according to the latest Google Developer Dashboard update from Google. Gingerbread comes in second with 30.7%, with Ice Cream Sandwich boasts a 21.7% user base.

Another bit of information noted in the report is that devices running below Android 2.2 are no longer included in the stats, as these devices aren’t capable of running the latest version of the Google Play Store app. The Play Store app is how Google monitors a myriad of data concerning Android devices, included installed operating system and screen size.

It’s nice to see the majority of Android users have access to the features we’ve come to know and love in Jelly Bean. Hopefully this trend of devices being updated in a somewhat quick timeframe will continue on into the KitKat era.
