Samsung T5 Portable SSD price slashed by $50 for Black Friday

Black Friday itself is less than a day away now, but you don’t have to wait until then to take advantage of Black Friday deals. Many retailers have already started rolling out some of their best deals in the days leading up to the big sale. Take, for instance, Amazon. Many of the Amazon Black Friday deals are already live on the online retailer’s site, including a wide variety of great discounts on consumer tech like this external hard drive from Samsung. With this deal, you’ll save $50 and get your hands on Samsung’s popular portable solid-state drive that boasts 2TB of storage space.

Amazon’s deal on the 2TB Samsung T5 Portable SSD is notable because for only $230 you can get a fairly high-end portable SSD at a nearly 20% discount. Without it, you’d be paying $280.

But let’s talk about what makes the Samsung T5 Portable SSD better than your run-of-the-mill external hard drive: You’re getting a massive storage capacity at 2TB, which means this SSD can handle storing high-resolution photos, videos, and whatever documents you need to backup. You’re also getting an SSD with blazing-fast transfer speeds of up to 540MB per second which will make quick work of transferring and backing up videos and photos. And though this SSD packs in a lot of storage and speed, Samsung still found a way to put it all in a lightweight, almost impossibly tiny package. It’s less than 2 ounces and claimed to be smaller than “the average business card.” And for those worried about data security, Samsung’s T5 has that covered since it includes password protection with AES 256-bit hardware encryption. In Digital Trends Samsung T5 review in 2017, it earned a glowing review. We particularly loved it’s overall design and transfer speeds, specifically praising its “robust build” and “impressive” read/write speeds.

As great as the Samsung T5 is, it may still not be your bag. If not, you may want to consider, this other Samsung deal from Amazon, the Samsung T7 Touch Portable SSD. It’s cheaper, at just $200, but you’ll still get 1TB of storage and insanely fast read/write speeds up to 1,050 MB/s and 1,000 MB/s respectively. It even comes with fingerprint and password security options and is as portable as the T5.
