Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 may not be as expensive as you’d expect

The Note 20 Ultra will apparently be cheaper than the Galaxy S20+.

What you need to know

  • Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 20 will reportedly be more affordable than its predecessor.
  • It is tipped to be priced at KRW 1.2 million ($999) in South Korea.
  • The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, on the other hand, is expected to cost KRW 1.45 million ($1,207).

Earlier this week, tipster Ricciolo had suggested that the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra would be Samsung’s most expensive Note devices yet. However, a new report from Korean publication Naver contradicts the leaker’s info and claims the Note 20 will actually be more affordable than expected.

According to the report, Samsung is anticipating lower demand for the Galaxy Note 20 series this year, mainly due to the coronavirus pandemic. In response to the weak consumer sentiment globally, Samsung has apparently decided to price the Galaxy Note 20 at KRW 1.2 million ($999) in South Korea. In comparison, the Galaxy Note 10 was launched in the country last year at KRW 1.25 million ($1,040).

The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, on the other hand, could be priced at KRW 1.45 million ($1,207) in South Korea, lower than the KRW 1.5 million ($1,248) launch price of the Galaxy Note 10+. If the information is accurate, the Galaxy Note 20 could be priced under $950 in the U.S, while the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra could start around $1,049.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are set to be unveiled at the company’s first virtual Unpacked event on August 5. They are expected to go on sale in the U.S. and several other markets across the globe on August 21. The U.S. variants of both phones are expected to feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 865+ chipset, while the international variants are likely to be powered by the 6nm Exynos 992.
