Report confirms two-edge Galaxy S 6

Share

Samsung_Galaxy_S6_CESWith everyone a buzz about the Galaxy S 6 moving toward a less Touchwiz filled direction, the rumors of Samsung making an “edge” variant of the Galaxy flagship have somewhat died down. That said, it looks to be all but confirmed as in the works as a new report from SamMobile suggests the S6 Edge is definitely a go. Just like the Note Edge, the S6 Edge will feature less prominently curved edges on both sides of the display. However, the S6 Edge isn’t the official name of the device.

The SM-G925 will feature the same panel-based system the Note Edge sports, however Samsung is adding new features to make the S6 Edge a bit more unique. Things like Finance, news, sports, briefings, pedometers, favorite apps and contact panels will be available plus other items will be downloadable from Samsung’s app store. Other items light a night clock and an Express Me panel will be available, too.

Unlike the Note Edge, where right handed people can easily take advantage of the edge (unless you want to turn the device upside down) both ride and left handers will  have an easier time using whichever edge they choose. Another feature will include Glance Lighting that will allow just the edge to light up when a call or notification comes in. Calls and notifications from certain people can be colored as well, allowing the edge to reflect those colors.

That said, until it’s official all rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. But given Samsung’s track record (and its love of bells and whistles) I’d say most, if not all, of these feature have the potential of popping up.
