YouTube warns users of potential music copyright issues

Share

If you’re using a popular tune to compliment your YouTube footage, the service now has a way for you to check for possible copyright violations. The site used Content ID to monitor videos for quite some time, but there wasn’t a way to get ahead of issues prior to that final upload. As of today, you can peruse the YouTube Audio Library to see what’ll happen when you post a file containing a particular song. Details like the potential for ads to location restrictions and whether or not the owner can request it be taken down are served up for proper consideration. So when you’re set to use T-Pain’s “Blame It” to soundtrack your vacation recap, you’ll know exactly what the end results could be.
