Sprint and Boost Mobile announced the Sharp Aquos Crystal handset a couple of months ago. However, Sharp also has a device called the Aquos Crystal X at about the same time, but it never hit the markets. Well, that changes now with Sharp officially launching the handset in Japan through local carrier Softbank (parent company of Sprint).

There’s no telling at this point if the Aquos Crystal X will ever make its way to the U.S. As for the design of this new handset, it’s pretty identical to the Aquos Crystal, although with a larger and powerful display at 5.5 inches (1080p).

The smartphone also has a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, a 1.2-megapixel front camera, Android 4.4 KitKat and a 2,610 mAh battery.

The Sharp Aquos Crystal has certainly struck a chord with the American audience, so Softbank will hope to replicate that with its more powerful sibling if it brings the device to the U.S. via Sprint.
