A rant that I have seen myself going on lately is that lack of compliance with GPL (This all has a point to it, I promise). This was most apparent when I purchased the Sero 7 Pro. Like many before it, the kernel source for the device was essentially nonexistent. I emailed them and posted under one of their Facebook posts with no response. Finally, I got response from them on Facebook via private message. It read as follows:

Prompt, cordial and understandable. While I’m not quite comfortable with the word “possibility” in there, the second half keeps hope alive. So, we may be seeing some source code soon, keep your eyes peeled and buy a Sero 7 Pro if you haven’t already.

Now to the reason for this post. Simply to take a leap of faith, I inquired about Android 4.3 for the S7P, and this is what they stated:

There you have it everyone, your Sero 7 Pro will in fact see an Android 4.3 update this fall. Now I understand that Android 5.0 is set for it’s release around the same time, but let’s be real here, how many Non-Nexus devices will see it before Q2 of 2014? Between OEM skinning and gimmicky features, even that prediction is kind of modest. So for the first time in my experience, a Chinese manufacturer will update the same device rather than release an entirely new hardware refresh. Thank you Hisense!

Now just a quick rundown, the Sero 7 Pro isn’t some fly by night device. It has all the same specs as the 2012 Nexus 7 (literally) plus an SD Card slot, dedicated mini-HDMI port and 5MP back camera. In my opinion, it can still compete with the Nexus 7 2013 outside of the Snapdragon Processor and Screen resolution, all for a sub $200 ($149 plus tax to be exact) price tag, a feature that the Nexus 7 has seemingly left behind.

So for the Sero 7 Pro owners, are you excited about Andy 4.3 gracing your device? And for the potential buyers, does this make you want to get one? let us know in the comments below!
