Jelly Bean update hits for BBC iPlayer

If you’re a fan of BBC programming and use an Android smartphone you will be glad to hear that BBC has offered up the new version of its iPlayer app. The new version of the app makes it compatible with the features of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The updated app also brings with it some other nice and interesting features that fans of the app will appreciate.

The update improves the quality video playback and now supports streaming over Wi-Fi or 3G networks. The BBC is quiet on the topic of what exactly it did to improve the playback quality using its new app. We do know that the updated version of the app is based on the updated version of BBC’s Media Player that is also available.

If you’ve never used the BBC iPlayer app before, it allows TV and radio shows from the last seven days to be played if you missed an episode of your favorite show. The app also supports playback of live content so if you’re out of the house when your favorite program is on, you can watch it on your Android smartphone or tablet.

The app allows you to flag shows that you like and offers a programming guide allowing you to figure out what you want watch in the future. The app is available on Google Play right now, and you’ll also have to download the BBC Media Player app. Thankfully, both of those programs are offered at no cost.
