Living in Manhattan, I often find myself out and about in the city with dangerously low levels of battery power. I’ve tried to compensate by carrying additional USB cables, clunky cases with batteries built-in, and even book-sized portable charging solutions (often requiring a backpack) to varying degrees of success. In comes the Flex from PhoneSuit.
I couldn’t believe just how small this thing was upon opening. Roughly the size of a thumb (unless you’re Dikembe Mutombo), this portable charger is the most practical option that I’ve ever used. While they offer an Apple charging option, mine came with Android-friendly MicroUSB (obviously).
Featuring a 2600 mAh battery and 1 Amp “Quick Charge” technology, I found it capable of charging my Galaxy SIII quickly and fully. I found it light enough, and small enough, to stick comfortably in a jeans pocket while maneuvering the city’s various public transportation routes. While I can’t say that it won’t weigh your device down a bit when plugged in, using my phone with it attached wasn’t too cumbersome or clunky (with respect to its purpose).
Retailing at around $70, I’m going to say this a must buy for city slickers without access to vehicle-chargers. It has replaced any other solutions I was using, and I can’t foresee it being dethroned any time soon.
