$299.99 on-contract for the Note 3, $299.99 outright for the Gear

Verizon Wireless subscribers, today's the day you can pick up Samsung's latest handset on your carrier of choice. The Galaxy Note 3 goes on sale today on Verizon, along with the Galaxy Gear companion smartwatch. The Verizon Note 3 is available in black and white colors for $299.99 on a standard two-year contract, and the carrier is also offering the Note and Gear at the same price point. If you're looking to buy a Verizon Galaxy Note 3 outright, you'll pay $699.99.

Verizon is the last major U.S. operator to get the Note 3 — T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T launched the big-screened phone last week, while the device arrived on U.S. Cellular yesterday. If you're picking up a Verizon Note 3 (or Galaxy Gear) today, hit the comments and make yourself known!

Samsung taps into smartwatches’ sci-fi history in first Galaxy Gear ad

'A long time coming...'

A rather clever piece of advertising, Samsung's first dedicated TV spot for its Galaxy Gear wearable looks back on a half-century of smartwatches in fiction, from appearances in The Jetsons to Star Trek to Predator to Knight Rider, to name but a few. While the Galaxy Gear is a very imperfect first attempt at an Android-powered smartwatch, the company is bound to pique consumers' interest with simple yet effective commercials like this. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 + Gear now available on AT&T and Sprint

$299 each on AT&T; Sprint has the Note 3 for $249.99 with a new line

As per previous announcements, today's the day you can pick up the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear on AT&T and Sprint in the U.S. AT&T's Note 3 runs $299 on a standard two-year plan, or if you're buying outright it's $724.99. Similarly, AT&T will sell you a Galaxy Gear in lime green, wild orange, jet black, rose gold or oatmeal beige colors for $299.

Sprint's Galaxy Note 3 can be yours for $249.99 on-contract, which includes a $100 discount for opening a new line; the regular price is $699.99. Sprint's online store doesn't seem to be listing the Galaxy Gear just yet, but it too should also be available today for $299.

T-Mobile got the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear on Wednesday, and Verizon is set to launch the devices next Thursday, Oct. 10.
