Google’s Pixel 11 is cheaper ahead of iPhone 18 Pro launch

Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro will release this Friday, September 18th, and it’s tough to see it as just a coincidence that Google’s latest Pixel phones are discounted. The Pixel 11 Pro carries the biggest discount, with its fog, olive, and obsidian color schemes selling for around $1,007 at Amazon, almost negating this year’s $100 price increase for the starter configuration despite having twice the storage (256GB).

The standard Pixel 11 is cheaper, too, selling for about $840 at Amazon, $60 off its starting price. It’s nice to see the price come down, making it a little less pricey to get access to Google’s Pixel 11-exclusive features, including Camera Looks and Magic Capture. This model has the same processor and amount of RAM as the cheapest Pixel 11 Pro (the cameras are the biggest difference).

The price drops continue all the way to the bottom of Google’s current Pixel series, the Pixel 10A. Originally $499 for the phone with the Pixel 9’s Tensor G4 processor, it’s back down to $424 at Amazon and Best Buy. We see this price return from time to time, and it’s worth considering whether you need an upgrade from an older A-series phone, or if you’re considering leaving the flagship phone lifestyle behind to save some money.

Other great Verge-approved deals

  • Decent streaming boxes have gotten a lot more expensive recently. Google’s TV Streamer 4K recently got a $50 price hike up to $149, while the latest Apple TV 4K from 2022 went from $129 to $199 in June. However, the Amazon Fire TV Cube (its highest-end streamer) from 2022 is back to one of its best prices yet. Originally $199.99, it’s $109.99 at Amazon, which might make it worth choosing over the pricier competition. Despite its age (and that it has just 2GB RAM and 16GB storage), it has solid hardware for streaming 4K HDR (Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HDR 10 Plus, HLG), plus Dolby Atmos and uncompressed Dolby MAT audio over Wi-Fi 6E connections, with Ethernet to boot. It’s a good value. Read our 2022 review.
  • One of my favorite trends happening in gaming headsets is the proliferation of swappable batteries. SteelSeries pioneered the feature, but Glorious made it a lot more accessible with its semi-affordable InfinitePlay wireless headset. Originally $229.99, it’s down to $199.99 at Amazon in white or black — its first-ever discount. The headset’s sound and build quality isn’t on-par with pricier headsets, but its battery system is more impressive than what SteelSeries has achieved; The InfinitePlay won’t immediately die when you yank out its swappable battery, thanks to its built-in reserve that can last hours. This means your audio won’t cut out when you need to remove and insert a charged one. Read our hands-on coverage.
  • Capcom has released a lot of great games this year, and most would agree that Resident Evil Requiem is near the top. The latest in the long-running series introduces a new character, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, who you play as in first-person mode, until the story puts you in third-person control of Leon S. Kennedy. The title for Nintendo Switch 2 has reached a new low price that narrowly beats what we last saw in late June’s Prime Day. You can grab the Game-Key Card edition for $49.99 (originally $69.99) at Amazon. Read our review.
