NYT Strands hints and answers for Saturday, January 3 (game #671)

Looking for a different day?

A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight each day for your time zone – which means that some people are always playing ‘today’s game’ while others are playing ‘yesterday’s’. If you’re looking for Friday’s puzzle instead then click here: NYT Strands hints and answers for Friday, January 2 (game #670).

Strands is the NYT’s latest word game after the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands hints.

Want more word-based fun? Then check out my NYT Connections today and Quordle today pages for hints and answers for those games, and Marc’s Wordle today page for the original viral word game.

SPOILER WARNING: Information about NYT Strands today is below, so don’t read on if you don’t want to know the answers.

The answers to today’s Strands, game #671, are…

  • INVENTIVE
  • SEMINAL
  • FRESH
  • ORIGINAL
  • NOVEL
  • SPANGRAM: BREAKNEWGROUND
  • My rating: Hard
  • My score: Perfect

If you wanted to listen to the most quintessentially British thing ever then I recommend a long-running BBC radio show called Just A Minute. It’s a comedy panel show where the competitors win points by speaking on a subject for 60 seconds without deviation, repetition or hesitation.

I mention this because “I’ve never seen that before!” is precisely the kind of subject they will be given to talk about. In their case it would most likely involve them telling anecdotes about roller-skating otters or helicopters in the shape of a banana.

No one, I suspect, would choose to ramble on about being INVENTIVE, SEMINAL or NOVEL. All words that in today’s Strands posed quite a struggle to find.

Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Friday, January 2, game #670)

  • BLANKET
  • SLIPPERS
  • COCOA
  • ROBE
  • FIREPLACE
  • CUDDLES
  • SPANGRAM: STAYWARM
