Another veteran Marvel star could join The Batman Part II — and they’ve already been fancast by DC diehards

  • Sebastian Stan is reportedly in talks to join The Batman Part II
  • There’s no word on who the veteran MCU actor might play
  • He’s already being fancast as one of The Dark Knight’s most famous villains

The Batman Part II looks set to land another veteran Marvel star in the form of Sebastian Stan.

Per Deadline, Stan is said to be holding talks with the movie series’ overlords Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark about joining The Batman sequel’s cast. There’s no word on which character he might play, but fans have already earmarked him for a very specific role in the comic book movie.

Should Stan, who’s played James ‘Bucky’ Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since 2011, sign on for the project, he’ll become the latest Marvel actor to add a DC movie to his resume.

Last December, Scarlett Johansson was reportedly tapped for a major role in The Batman Part II, though it’s still unclear who the former Black Widow star will portray.

Jeffrey Wright, who played Jim Gordon in The Batman, is another A-lister with ties to the MCU through his voice acting role as The Watcher in Disney+ show What If…?. Barry Keoghan, who played Druig in Marvel’s Eternals film, also made a brief cameo as The Joker in The Batman. According to Variety, Keoghan will reprise his role as the Caped Crusader’s most iconic adversary in its follow-up, too.

Who could Sebastian Stan play in The Batman Part II?

As I mentioned above, the identity of Stan’s character in the next Batman flick is a mystery. That hasn’t stopped fans speculating on his potential role, though, and there’s one particular individual that people think he’d be perfect for: Harvey Dent, aka Two Face.

Indeed, since the news broke about Stan’s likely involvement in the DC Studios project, threads on r/Batman, r/DCULeaks, r/TheBatmanFilm, and the ResetEra forums are littered with comments that Stan would fit the bill as the Gotham City district attorney-turned-criminal mastermind.

There are other candidates. Some believe Stan would work well as another Batman villain in Hush, while others have suggested he could play Jason Todd. The latter is one of many individuals who’ve adopted the superhero pseudonym Robin (i.e. Batman’s sidekick), and who later assumes the anti-hero identity of Red Hood.

Interestingly, an August 2025 rumor suggested a version of Robin may appear in The Batman Part II, so it’s not out of the question that Stan could play Todd. There’s no denying, though, that the role of Dent is the current frontrunner among many observers.

Filming will begin on The Batman Part II sometime in early 2026, so we might not have long to wait to learn if Stan is part of the film’s roster and who he’ll end up portraying.

Mind you, given the secrecy around the film, we may not learn the identity of his character until it’s released in October 2027. Let’s hope that’s not the case. For now, get the lowdown on everything we know so far about The Batman Part II.
