This unique case will put a screen on the back of your iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max

  • An iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max case with a built-in screen has been announced
  • Dubbed the Selfix Case, it’s designed to help you frame selfies using the rear cameras
  • It also has a microSD card slot

One of the more intriguing phones to have been announced this year is the Xiaomi 17 Pro, which – along with its larger sibling, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max – has a small secondary display on the back, allowing you to control media, view notifications, and frame selfies. But soon, with the help of an accessory, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will also get some of those capabilities.

Selfix has announced the Selfix Case, a case for your iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max that has a 1.6-inch circular AMOLED touchscreen built into it. This 480 x 480 display can be used as a viewfinder for the rear cameras, so you can use them to take selfies.

The advantage of that is that it gives you three additional lenses to choose from for selfies, giving you different focal lengths and access to larger sensors with more megapixels and better low-light performance. Of course, technically, you could still take selfies with the rear cameras without this case, but you’d just have to hope your photo was framed correctly.

Boosts your storage too

The Selfix Case also includes a microSD card slot, so add a card, and you’ll have plenty of space for all your photos and videos. Plus, there’s a mechanical button to turn that secondary screen on and off.

Even better, the Selfix Case supposedly works without any apps or setup – just put your iPhone in it, and you should be good to go.

How well it works in practice remains to be seen, but it’s certainly intriguing. There’s also the question of price, as we don’t know how much the Selfix Case will cost yet, but it’s supposedly coming to Kickstarter soon, where it will be offered in Oat White, Blush Pink, and Midnight Black shades.

Of course, even if it does work as advertised, it won’t be as versatile as the secondary screen on the Xiaomi 17 Pro series, as that can be used for a lot more than just framing selfies. But if you want a second screen without ditching iOS, then this could be your best and only option.
