NYT Strands hints and answers for Saturday, November 8 (game #615)

Looking for a different day?

A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight each day for your time zone – which means that some people are always playing ‘today’s game’ while others are playing ‘yesterday’s’. If you’re looking for Friday’s puzzle instead then click here: NYT Strands hints and answers for Friday, November 7 (game #614).

Strands is the NYT’s latest word game after the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands hints.

Want more word-based fun? Then check out my NYT Connections today and Quordle today pages for hints and answers for those games, and Marc’s Wordle today page for the original viral word game.

The answers to today’s Strands, game #615, are…

  • PORTAL
  • ENTRANCE
  • GATE
  • DOORWAY
  • INGRESS
  • THRESHOLD
  • SPANGRAM: LETMEIN
  • My rating: Hard
  • My score: Perfect

I’m pleased that I didn’t use any hints today, as this was a far from straightforward search, with several difficult to find words (I tapped out “door” and “doors” before finally getting DOORWAY).

The phrase “knock, knock” is usually answered “who’s where?”, but after getting PORTAL, ENTRANCE, and GATE in quick succession along the top of the board I knew we weren’t looking for anything to do with jokes.

Despite getting the spangram fairly quickly after my initial burst, I struggled with the bottom half of the board and it took me a while to figure out we were looking for INGRESS and THRESHOLD on our way to glory.

Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Friday, November 7, game #614)

  • SAMBA
  • TANGO
  • SALSA
  • TEJANO
  • MARIACHI
  • REGGAETON
  • SPANGRAM: LATIN MUSIC
