The answers to today’s Strands, game #631, are…

  • GROOM
  • JOCKEY
  • WRANGLER
  • VETERINARIAN
  • FARRIER
  • SPANGRAM: EQUESTRIAN
  • My rating: Easy
  • My score: Perfect

I was galloping my way through today’s search right up until the final two words left me with a whole tangle of letters on the board.

VETERINARIAN is not the most obvious of horse-themed words, but I just about managed to tap it out in the correct order before getting the second hardest challenge of the game in FARRIER.

The word WRANGLER, used here for its EQUESTRIAN meaning, obviously made me think of the denim brand and its jeans – which were originally made to be worn while in the saddle and with wider legs to fit over cowboy boots.

They were also, according to my Google research, the jeans worn by Freddie Mercury of Queen and by Harrison Ford at his wedding. Fun facts, eh?

Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Sunday, November 23, game #630)

  • NERDS
  • DOTS
  • STARBUST
  • RUNTS
  • WHATCHAMACALLIT
  • SPANGRAM: CANDYAISLE
