New Samsung Galaxy S26 leak may have revealed weights and sizes – and how they compare to the iPhone 17

  • The weights and thicknesses of the S26 phones may have leaked
  • See how they compare to the Galaxy S25 and iPhone 17 handsets
  • We’re expecting three models to launch sometime early in 2026

As the expected launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S26 draws closer – sometime in the first three months of 2026, most likely – a fresh leak has outlined the weights and thicknesses of the three expected models, comparing them to the Apple iPhone 17.

These details come from well-known tipster @UniverseIce, and cover the standard Galaxy S26, the S26 Plus, and the S26 Ultra. There’s no mention of a successor to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which may not be happening.

Starting with the base model, it’s said to weigh 164 grams and be 6.9 mm thick – a little lighter and thinner than the iPhone 17. It’s also slightly heavier and thinner than the Samsung Galaxy S25, which weighs 162 grams and measures 7.2 mm front to back.

Then we have the Galaxy S26 Plus, tipping the scales at 191 grams and 7.3 mm thick, apparently – lighter and thinner than the iPhone 17 Pro. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus weighs 190 grams and also has a thinness of 7.3 mm.

Not much in it

On to the top phones for Samsung and Apple, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is going to weigh in at 214 grams, while measuring 7.9 mm from the front to the back, according to this leak – just a bit thinner and lighter than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is a little heavier at 218 grams, and a little thicker at 8.2 mm. There’s not really much to choose between the 2025 and 2026 phones though, or indeed the equivalents from Apple’s current line.

It would seem that consumers aren’t too keen on super-thin phones at the moment. Not only is Samsung rumored to have canceled the Galaxy S26 Edge, it seems that the iPhone Air isn’t selling particularly well either.

There seems to be some confusion over when the Galaxy S26 series might see the light of day. While the Galaxy S25 phones launched in January, there has been talk that their successors might be pushed back to February or March of next year.
