My favorite game of 2025 is half off at Target thanks to a fun-tastic early Black Friday sale

Right now, Target has a buy-one-get-one-half-price sale on its board games, allowing you to snag one of my favorite games of the year at a discount – or grab some classics at reduced prices.

Shop Target’s full early Black Friday sale

If you want to experience one of the best card games ever made, look no further than Flip 7, and if you grab it alongside a pricier game, Target will sell it for just $3.99. Alternatively, you might want to maximize your savings and grab some meatier board games. In that case, I’d suggest grabbing Catan at $24.99 at Target – though again, you’ll need to buy a pricier full-price game to secure this deal.

Also note this deal is only available to Target Circle members, but it is free to sign up, so anyone can access the savings if they wish. If that’s you, remember to get in before the sale ends on November 22.

Today’s best board game early Black Friday deal

This delightfully simple card game is already very affordable at just $7.99, but you could grab it for half off if you pair it with another board game from Target’s sale. My pick would be Big Potato Games’ Sounds Fishy. At $17.99, it’s also fairly affordable, and it’s another excellent party game for players of all ages.View Deal

If you’re looking to maximize your board game discount from Target, you’ll want to marry a pair of pricier board games. There are a lot of options to choose from, but of those bigger boxes, I’d definitely make sure you choose Catan. While it’s only for three or four players, I’ve yet to play it with someone who doesn’t fall in love – I often call it the trading game Monopoly wishes it could be. I’d then pair it with either Wingspan at $65.99 or Ticket to Ride at $54.99, which are a duo of meatier but still approachable board games.View Deal

On its box, Flip 7 calls itself “The greatest card game of all time,” and I’m inclined to agree.

The gameplay is super easy to understand, making it a great one to play with folks of all ages. Everyone is dealt a card, and then on their turn, each player can choose to stick or twist. It sounds a lot like Blackjack, but the difference here is that you aren’t aiming for a score of 21. Instead, you don’t want to flip over a number you have already been dealt.

At the end of the round, the players who didn’t bust add up the value of their cards in a race to be the first to reach 200 points. So you’re after those bigger value cards, but because each deck is made up of twelve 12s, eleven 11s, ten 10s, and so on, they’re a double-edged sword. They’ll help you rack up points quickly, but are also more likely to cause your round to end early.

There are also a handful of action cards that allow you to score bonus points or freeze your foes, and there’s the Flip 7 of it all – if you flip over seven unique number cards in a round, it ends immediately and you score a bonus 15 points on top of what you’d have earned.

I played this at a friend’s home a few months ago and instantly went out to buy a copy, and I’ve even gifted copies to a few friends – that’s how much I love this game.

Sounds Fishy is also a lot of fun for groups, and it’s another one of the titles I’ll be recommending in my next annual roundup. It’s another party game, but instead asks players to come up with fake answers to questions to trick the other people at the table.

It’s another really fun and easy game to learn, and I feel it pairs very nicely with Flip 7, but there are some other great options among Target’s sale items, including other Big Potato Games titles, including Tilt and Shout and Herd Mentality.
