This half price Samsung OLED TV deal at Best Buy might have beaten Amazon Prime Day before it’s even begun

If you’re looking for a huge discount on a big, high quality TV, Best Buy has a sensational saving on a Samsung: the 65-inch S85F 4K OLED TV is down from $1,999 to just $999, a saving of $1,000.

That’s a lot of TV for just under $1K: it’s a 65-inch 120Hz OLED with HDR10+, four HDMI inputs, Alexa, SmartThings and Bixby.

Shop Amazon’s early October Prime Day sale

These are the sort of savings we thought you’d have to wait for Amazon Prime Day to see, but Best Buy has clearly decided to fire across Amazon’s bows in advance of the big day – and that means a big discount on a big TV that makes it a big bargain.

Today’s best Samsung 65-inch S84F Prime Day deal

The Samsung S84F is the sibling of the Samsung S85F, which we rate very highly. It’s slightly cheaper than its sibling because it dispenses with various lifestyle features that most of us won’t particularly care about. This is a very good TV for a touch under $1K. If you want an even bigger saving on an even bigger TV, tap the 77-inch button on the Best Buy page: that model is currently $1,500 off, bringing it down to $1,499.View Deal

The S84F is very similar to the superb Samsung S85F that we rate very highly, and it comes with the same OLED panel. It’s slightly more affordable than its stablemate because it lacks some of the non-essential features such as workout tracking, wellness monitoring and video calling support.

It also lacks Filmmaker Mode, which may be a deal-breaker for some, but we’ve found that Samsung’s own Movie mode – which this TV has – takes care of tone mapping more effectively, so we don’t think anyone except the purest of cinephiles will really miss Filmmaker.
