The best corded vacuum deals in the Prime Day sales – save money without compromising on cleaning performance

The modern vacuum cleaner market is dominated by cordless models, but having tested a whole bunch of vacuums of different kinds, I’m here to tell you you shouldn’t discount a corded model. Sure, it’s a bit less convenient to have to plug and unplug as you go, but if you can get over that, then corded vacuums have many big benefits.

The suction power is typically superior to cordless vacs, and they tend to last longer overall, too. And, of course, you’ll never have to pause mid-clean and wait for your vacuum to recharge.

The Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sale is in full swing, and a number of other retailers are launching rival deals events. I’ve scoured all the sales to find the best corded vacuum bargains – you’ll find my top picks, at Amazon and beyond, below. I’ve focused on corded stick vacuums (there aren’t many about), but also included canister and upright options where the deals are really strong. Alternatively, head to TechRadar’s Amazon Prime Day hub for all the best deals on a range of tech and gadgets.

With $100 off MSRP, the PowerDetect Ultralight is down to its lowest-ever price. The PowerDetect line is Shark’s newest vacuum range, and this is the corded stick option boasts innovations like a floorhead that’s especially good at dealing with chunky spillages, and sensors that enable the vacuum to auto-adjust brushroll speed depending on whether it’s on a carpet or hard floor.View Deal

The Shark HV322 Rocket Deluxe regularly attracts discounts, but they aren’t usually as big as this one. I haven’t used this specific model, but it looks like a good, basic option. It can be converted into a handheld vacuum for cleaning up high, and the handheld part clips to the floorhead for convenient, freestanding storage, too. At under $130, it’s extremely wallet-friendly. This canister vacuum has 25% off for Prime Day, taking it down to the lowest price I have on record. Miele is a huge name in vacuums, and has a reputation for making high-quality, top-performing machines. The M1 is designed for homes with mostly hard floors and low-pile carpet, and comes with a Parquet brush for hardwood flooring. Dust is captured in a bag, which means no messy emptying. View Deal

There’s £30 off this corded Shark vacuum for Prime Day, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but when it’s this cheap to start with, it’s still a very decent discount. This model features Shark’s older-style DuoClean floorhead, which includes a soft roller to clean and buff hard floors and a bristled roller to agitate carpet fibers and release dust trapped there. It has a wand that can be released to bend forward, for easier cleaning under furniture. If you’re a cat or dog owner, you might prefer this version with a mini, motorized pet hair tool (also discounted). View Deal

With £150 off, the Shark PowerDetect just dropped to a new, cheapest-ever price as part of the Amazon Big Deal days event. In our Shark PowerDetect Upright review, we were impressed with this vacuum’s cleaning power and its useful automation features – it can amp up suction based on floor type and dirt levels, as well as when it approaches the edge of a room. The floorhead is specially designed to be able to suck up chunky debris when pulled backwards. View Deal

Head to Currys’ rival Prime Day sale and you’ll find the Boost CX1 with a very decent £70 discount. Miele is a very highly regarded vacuum brand, especially when it comes to cylinder vacs like this one. The design includes a telescopic wand that can be extended to the most comfortable length, and – unusually for this kind of vacuum – it’s bagless, so you won’t need to remember to replace your bags. There are three power settings and three attachments for different cleaning tasks. View Deal
