New iPad Pro M5 preorders are live: here’s where to buy Apple’s latest premium tablet

Apple has just unveiled a brand new generation of high-end Apple iPad Pro M5 tablets, carrying the brand’s latest (and most powerful) chipset.

Apple iPad Pro pre-orders are already open at the Apple Store, so you can now reserve one of these premium tablets ahead of the official release date of October 22.

New features include the massively powerful new M5 chipset, quicker memory bandwidth, and new network chips that promise improved connectivity. Outwardly, the devices share the same design and display as last year, with the option for a smaller 11-inch and larger 13-inch model.

The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $999 / £999 / AU$1,699 for the baseline 256GB Wi-Fi model, while the 13-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,299 / £1,299 / AU$2,199. Both iPad Pros are available in Space Black or Silver and in storage capacities up to 2TB.

While a minor upgrade overall, these devices are actually the same prices as the previous generation, so they’re definitely worth considering with the latest M5 chipset.

Preorder the new Apple iPad Pro now

Note that Apple is running its usual trade-in program for this week’s iPad Pro M5 preorders, meaning you can hand over an older model for a potentially big discount. Right now, the rebates include savings of up to $695 / £625 / AU$1,045 and are likely to be the best deals we’ll see for a while.

Right now, Apple is the only retailer featuring iPad Pro M5 preorders, but expect the devices to be stocked at rival retailers throughout the next few weeks. If you’re willing to wait, we could potentially even see a few discounts over Black Friday, depending on how popular these models are.

What’s new with the Apple iPad Pro M5?

Outwardly, both the new 11-inch and 13-inch models feature the same display, chassis, and design as the previous models. The focus for this generation is the new M5 chipset and the various new software features that it brings.

With that said, the M5 chipset should provide a hefty improvement in terms of performance, with Apple claiming that it’s up to 3.5 times faster than the M4 found in the last iPad Pro. That’s likely with tasks involving Apple Intelligence, considering the M5 features an updated GPU with a Neural Accelerator inside each core.

Other minor hardware improvements include a quicker memory bandwidth and new network chips – in this case, the C1X and N1, which will improve cellular connectivity and add support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.

The new iPad Pro M5 runs the latest iPadOS 26, which includes UI improvements, new apps, and improved multitasking support. Right now, Apple Intelligence features are very much in their infancy, but the new iPad Pro models are definitely future-proofed for any potential unannounced features in the pipeline.
