I test coffee machines for a living – these are the best October Prime Day deals I recommend

Forget love, it’s coffee that makes the world go round if you ask me. In fact, I’d go as far to say that a good coffee machine is the only gadget a kitchen really needs. Not only does owning one mean you have coffee on tap, but it can also save you money in the long run by limiting visits to your local cafe.

Fortunately, the current Prime Day sales are serving up plenty of excellent coffee and espresso machine deals, and as the Australian TechRadar team’s resident expert, I’ve picked out the ones most worth your money.

Nespresso Vertuo Pop

When I’m not reviewing coffee machines, I have a Vertuo Pop taking pride of place on my kitchen counter. It couldn’t be easier to use and I love the range of Vertuo pods from Nespresso. Different colours are available at different stores, so I’ve picked out a few:

• Mango Yellow: AU$99 at Amazon
• Spicy Red with Aeroccino 3: AU$149 at Amazon
• Coconut White: AU$98 at The Good Guys
• Pistachio bundle pack (pictured): AU$199 at The Good Guys

This Nespresso machine is similar to the Eletta Explore listed below, in that you can pour coffee and frothed milk at the touch of a button. The main difference here is that this machine uses the Original Nespresso pods, as opposed to beans or ground coffee. We said in our De’Longhi Lattissima One review that it’s a great, compact option for smaller kitchens. Also available in white for AU$399.View Deal

If you don’t need all 20 drink recipes of the 5500 Series, the step down 4400 Series, which has 12 recipes available, is a steal right now at AU$536 – that’s 55% off! I’ve just got this one in for testing and have only made a few drinks with it, but early impressions are good. Coffee extraction is well-timed and it’s easy to navigate. For affordable coffee at the touch of a few buttons, this should be high on your shopping list.View Deal

This manual bean-to-cup machine is a few years old now, but it’s still comfortably one of the better models available. If the idea of experimenting with dosages and grind sizes appeals to you, it’s one of the more affordable entry points, especially with this 37% discount for Prime Day. Or you can upgrade to the Barista Express Impress from Breville and claim 10% off using our exclusive Breville coupon code. View Deal

If you want to pour a mixture of hot and cold coffee-based drinks, the Eletta Explore has you covered. This fully-automatic machine comes with individual carafes for hot and cold milk, although we found them to be a bit fiddly in our De’Longhi Eletta Explore review. Not only can you use the touch buttons on the front to select drinks, but you can even line them up via a smartphone app.View Deal

This compact, fully-automatic machine from Philips is ideal for smaller spaces. It can brew 20 different drinks, is quiet in use and it keeps beans fresher for longer thanks to an airtight container. We found in our Philips 5500 Series review that the milk frothing system works well, you just need to be careful where you place your cup. View Deal
