At $249, this HP Chromebook is a great buy if you need a cheap laptop

Need a lightweight laptop for schoolwork? Or just a really cheap device for general use? You should check out this HP Chromebook 15 at Best Buy for $249 (was $429).

Why? Well, this price for 8GB of RAM is great. Not many laptops in this price range feature that incredibly handy performance boost. Of course, with an Intel Processor N200 and only 64GB of storage, this HP Chromebook 15 is far from a high-end laptop. Still, it’s ideal if you want something simple and affordable for browsing the web, watching YouTube videos, reading lectures on Canvas, and performing other light tasks – and the battery life of up to 12 hours is a nice touch, too.

Today’s best cheap Chromebook deal

The HP Chromebook 15 is a budget-friendly Chromebook that fills all the basic needs you’d want in a laptop for school and general daily use. While 8GB RAM isn’t a lot, it’s enough for following along with lectures, browsing the web, and watching videos. This laptop isn’t meant to be heavy-duty, just something light and capable that you can take with you on the go, thanks to the excellent up to 12-hour battery life.View Deal

Also known as the HP Chromebook 15, this laptop is the standard version of our best Chromebook for students. This particular model runs on the Intel Processor N200 and 8GB of RAM, so it isn’t as strong as its Plus counterpart but should be a good fit for schoolwork.

Just note that it only comes with 64GB eMMC for storage, so you can’t use it for working with large files like high-resolution photos and videos, or playing games. If you want any hope of doing these more demanding tasks without suffering a performance drop, I’d recommend going with one of our best student laptops instead.
