  • An APK teardown revealed that the Google Pixel Buds Pro could get equalizer settings.
  • The EQ could offer five different bands of sound control.
  • The teardown also found several different presets to choose from.

One of the glaring oversights of the Google Pixel Buds Pro is a lack of customizable equalizer settings. But it looks like that could change in the future according to an APK teardown.

In an APK teardown of the latest update — version 1.0.474476083 — of the Pixel Buds app, the folks over at 9To5Google discovered multiple references to an equalizer feature.

Before we go any further, it is necessary to point out that APK teardowns only focus on in-progress features. Just because there are mentions of upcoming features found in the lines of code, there’s no guarantee that the company will roll out said features.

According to the data 9To5Google found, the equalizer could have five adjustable bands of sound control. These bands include a low bass, bass, mid, treble, and upper treble. The layout of the equalizer could be different from what you’re used to as well with horizontal sliders and vertical bands — normally the orientation is vertical sliders with horizontal bands.

The equalizer could also have seven different presets including:

  • Balanced
  • Clarity
  • Default
  • Heavy bass
  • Last saved
  • Light bass
  • Vocal boost

In addition to the sound control and presets, there also appeared to be data on a volume balance slider. This slider would allow you to adjust the volume on the left or right earbuds individually.

Although these features aren’t active in the app, unfortunately, it’s possible they could eventually come in a future update. An equalizer setting would be a great addition to our other favorite features that you can check out here.
