Fortnite challenge guide: Fly 20 meters with a chicken

Share

Week 3 of Fortnite’s season 6 is underway with a new batch of challenges for you to check off your list. This week’s challenges are varied in difficulty, though only a small portion should give you trouble. The first one we’ll be tackling is the one for flying 20 meters with a chicken. Of course, season 6 has introduced wild animals around the map, including boars, frogs, and chickens.

You can actually grab the chickens like in The Legend of Zelda and use them to glide around, which is actually an effective strategy for getting out of a bind. In this guide, we’ll show you everything you’ll need to know about chickens, including where to find them and how to fly around with them. Here’s how to fly 20 meters with a chicken in Fortnite.

Where to find chickens

Step one of this challenge is to actually find a chicken. They spawn in fixed locations around the world, so use the map above (thanks, Fortnite.gg) to find where they are. As you can see, the middle portion of the map has plenty of chickens to choose from, especially to the east of The Spire. The thing is — this area can be quite busy at times, so depending on your skill level, you might want to venture to one of the other locations.

The other thing to keep in mind with this challenge is that the game tracks your progress cumulatively, meaning you don’t have to fly 20 meters in one go. That’s a good thing — you can give it multiple tries across more than one match. And of course, we recommend attempting this challenge in Team Rumble so you can respawn if you get eliminated. Now that you’ve got all that in mind, we can jump into the meat and potatoes of the challenge.

How to use them to fly

The issue with the chickens is that they’re pretty fast and are hard to catch. But if you just keep running after them, eventually you’ll catch up — just make sure you’re mashing the Grab button on your controller as you chase the chicken: Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, and Y on Nintendo Switch. With a little luck, you’ll grab onto the chicken and hold it above your head.

At this point, you have a few options. Depending on the area you’re in, you might be able to just jump off a tall hill, which will easily get you close to the 20-meter mark. Otherwise, you’ll have to jump around by pressing X on PlayStation, A on Xbox, or B on Nintendo Switch. Do this repeatedly and you’ll eventually accumulate 20 meters of fly time — along with 24K XP for your troubles.
