How to increase Adventure Rank in Genshin Impact

Share

Genshin Impact is miHoYo’s first open-world fantasy game. You’ll enter the world of Teyvat, where gods rule and everyone sort of lives at their whim. You’re a twin and were traveling with your sibling and exploring the world. Unfortunately, the two of you have been separated by an unknown god. You’ll need to explore the world and meddle in the affairs of other nations, gods, and the world to find your lost sibling.

Although it seems pretty straightforward, you won’t be able to travel right off the bat. At least, not without upgrading your Adventure Rank a bit. Upgrading your Adventure Rank is a necessary part of the game, mostly because every time you upgrade your rank, you unlock new quests, challenges, and raise your World Level. Increasing your World Level means you’ll face off with stronger enemies, but you’ll also get rarer and better rewards. There are quite a few ways to raise your Adventure Rank. Here are a few ideas for you to try!

Adventure Rank in Genshin Impact

There are a few ways you can increase your Adventure Rank. You can decide which route you want to take to upgrade, but as long as you improve your rank, you’ll be able to see more of the world than before. The Adventure Rank is a global level that is shared with all characters in your party. It’s a metric that allows you to unlock new activities, World Levels, quests, and Abyssal Domains. To increase your ranking, you’ll need to focus on a few different things.

Story quests and Archon

The best things to complete to increase your rank are story quests and Archon. Although some of these items will be locked behind certain levels, they’re the best things to use to boost your Adventure Rank. Essentially, these are the main story quests. It does make them a little easier to find in the game.

Each story quest will differ depending on the character you’re focusing on. As of right now, each character only has one story quest. You can check and see what quest you’re on by opening the quest menu.

Daily Commissions

Once you get to level 10, you’ll be able to unlock Daily Commissions. Every day, you’ll be offered four different mini-missions, which will reward you with XP and some resources. These commissions are fairly simple, and most consist of you going to a location and killing enemies. You should be able to knock out these Daily Commissions fairly quickly. Additionally, doing them regularly and claiming the bonuses for all four daily will slowly yet surely boost your Adventure Rank.

Daily Commissions are a great way to boost your Adventure Rank without investing a lot of time. Once you hit level 10, head over to the Adventurer’s Guild to start picking up commissions. After speaking with Katheryne in Mondstadt, you’ll be given the Adventurer Handbook, which lists commissions in the second tab. Each Daily Commission will be scattered across the map, so you’ll need to travel quite a bit. Hopefully you’ve unlocked a few Teleport Waypoints so you can quickly travel to wherever you need to go.

Side quests and world quests

In addition to the storyline quests, completing side quests and world quests is a great way to improve your Adventure Rank. These missions are significantly shorter and don’t progress the story, but they do add some depth to the world. It’s also the perfect time to explore the open-world, discover new locations, and unlock Teleport Waypoints.

Arguably, this is one of the more enjoyable ways to improve your Adventure Rank. However, it’s important to keep in mind that these missions will take longer than Daily Commissions or killing bosses would. They’re also not repeatable, so you’re more likely to run out of them if you only focus on these quests. By contrast, you do get way more interesting tasks and stories from these quests. Really, it depends on what you want to get out of the game. If you want more story, then focusing on these quests is a great way to go!

Boss hunts

If you’re tired of questing and commissions, then why not try hunting down the next boss on your list? If you check out the Bosses tab in the Adventurer Handbook, you can pick out any boss that awards Adventure EXP. Taking out one of the two Ley Line Outcrop bosses in Mondstadt area is the perfect route for new players to try. This boss is low level, and defeating them will give you 100 Adventure EXP. More advanced players can check out Elite Bosses for 200 EXP or Weekly Bosses for 300 EXP.

What makes boss hunting so different from previous methods of improving Adventure Rank is that bosses are repeatable. As long as you have enough Original Resin, you should be able to face off against these bosses again to get more Adventure EXP. Some bosses will require as low as 20 Original Resin and will respawn again nearby, whereas a few others will need 120. However, the reward for replaying these old bosses can be worth it as some will reward 600 Adventure EXP.

Clear Temples and Domains

Part of being an adventurer is ensuring that dangerous places are cleared out. Completing Domains and clearing Temples is another great way to increase Adventure Rank. How much Adventure EXP you get will depend on each individual Domain, but you can always double-check in your Adventurer Handbook beforehand.

There are a few one-time Domains you can find, which will be unlocked once you reach level 12. Their rewards range from 200 to 500 Adventure EXP, but you’ll only get this reward once. There are also a few repeatable Domains that are worth your time further down the road. Once you reach level 16, you’ll have access to Cecilia Garden, which is a repeatable Domain. You can potentially get up to 100 Adventure EXP with every run of this Domain that you complete. It can take a lot more time than some of the other tasks, but you’ll get plenty of other rewards to make it worth your time.

However, remember that Domains and Temples are actually locked behind level progress. You won’t be able to access some areas until you reach a certain level, but these missions are shorter than Archon missions and can give you a good boost to your level. To locate them, take a look at your map and check out the blue diamonds. You may need to complete a nearby puzzle before accessing them, though. You’ll also need some Original Resin to claim the temple rewards.

Adventurer Handbook experience

The Adventurer Handbook is a critical piece to the game, especially if you want to increase your Adventure Rank. You can complete a few experience tasks from the handbook to increase your Adventure Rank, but these things can only be completed once. Although that part is a bit of a bummer, the positive side is that the Adventure EXP rewards are pretty big and don’t require a lot of time to complete.

Completing experience tasks will give you 100 Adventure EXP each time. By completing the first three, you’ll get almost 2000 Adventure EXP right out of the gate. The tasks themselves are simple and most people complete them without even noticing. They’re pretty natural to the game itself.

Each of these tasks will be divided into different chapters. You can advance to the next chapter once all of the tasks of the previous chapter are complete. As you advance through the chapters, the number of tasks and the amount of Adventure EXP you can get will increase.

Get out and explore

Of course, there is another fun but also time consuming way of leveling up: Exploring! The world of Genshin Impact is open for everyone to look around and freely check out what it has to offer. There are Teleport Waypoints, Statues of the Seven, chests, and Domains that can be discovered. And, of course, you will be rewarded for each discovery with a small amount of Adventure EXP. If you want to check out the beautiful world and don’t mind investing some time into it, this is the perfect way to level up.

When traveling, also be sure to search the world for Anemoculus or Geoculus orbs. These items can be offered to the Statues of the Seven, and you’ll be rewarded with a lot of Adventure EXP. Remember though, this can only be done once and can take a lot of time to complete.

Adventure Rank rewards

Every time you level up, be sure to head back to the Adventurer’s Stand. The Adventurer’s Stand will give you a minor Mona and resource rewards for every time you level up. At ranks 5 and 10, you’ll get 10 Acquaint Fates. This will give you enough Acquaint Fates for an entire pack of whatever banner you want to pull. They’re also great for strengthening your team without having to spend real money.
