One of the final challenges you might be going for during Fortnite season 5, week 9 is the one for using an emote at stone statues. Though, the game doesn’t make it clear where the stone statues are, so you might be stumped on this one. Fortunately, we can point you in the direction of the statues’ locations.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through finding the statues and we’ll give you tips on how to complete this challenge as easily as possible. Here’s how to emote at stone statues in Fortnite.

How to emote at stone statues
There are two sets of stone statues you can use to complete this week’s challenge, and both are located at Colossal Coliseum — on the north and south sides. Use the map above for reference (per Fortnite.gg). The statues are found at each entrance and are indicated by large horses. Simply stand between them and use any emote to complete the challenge.
Despite Colossal Coliseum being busy in general and now serving as the location of a new challenge, you can still easily complete it without worrying too much about getting taken out. That’s because you can emote very quickly, so as long as you make a beeline to this location, you’ll likely survive. To emote, hold down on the D-pad and then select any of the options that appear on the wheel. Once you do, you’ll complete the challenge and earn 20,000 XP.
To be frank, the toughest part about this challenge is getting it to appear. With season 5, you must complete certain challenges before doing others, and they come in stages. In other words, players are prevented from completing multiple stages sequentially in the same match, since you have to back out to the main menu to get the next challenge to appear. For this particular challenge, you must first complete stage one, which requires you to deal 200 damage while in the water. It’s not as tough as it sounds since damage dealt to NPCs counts.
We don’t have a dedicated guide for that, but the best way to go about doing it is to land by the IO guards and shoot them while you’re in the water. A great spot to attempt that is the little lake with the island just north of Retail Row, as there’s plenty of loot around there and an IO guard spawn location right by the water. Once you deal 200 damage, you’ll complete the challenge, so back out to the main menu before attempting the one for using an emote at stone statues. From there, you can head straight for Colossal Coliseum to quickly grab 20,000 XP for very little effort.
