One of the most anticipated games of the year, Cyberpunk 2077, is here after what felt like an eternity. Though its PS5 and Xbox Series X versions aren’t quite ready yet, it is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Thanks to backwards compatibility, you’re able to play the PS4 version of the game on PS5, but you might be wondering how to move your save from last-gen to current-gen. In this guide, we’ll walk you through transferring your Cyberpunk 2077 save from PS4 to PS5.

Thankfully, it’s a relatively simple process, but if you haven’t messed around with the PS5’s UI, you might not be familiar with transferring your saves. Here’s how.

How to transfer your Cyberpunk 2077 save from PS4 to PS5 via the cloud

There are two ways to move your Cyberpunk 2077 save from PS4 to PS5. The easiest way is to use the cloud, but you’ll need to be a PS Plus membership to do so. The first step is to make sure your save is uploaded to the cloud on your PS4. Jump into the Settings, then go to Application Data Management, followed by Saved Data in System Storage, and then Upload to Online Storage. Here, you can select the save file(s) you’d like to upload to the cloud. Once you do that, you can retrieve it from your PS5.

From the PS5’s main menu, go into the Settings and then Saved Data and Game/App Settings.

Then, select Saved Data (PS4) and navigate down to Cloud Storage.

From here, select Download to Console Storage.

You’ll then be taken to a list of all your PS4 game saves that are stored on the cloud in alphabetical order. Navigate down to Cyberpunk 2077, select it, and press Download on the right side of the screen.

Once you do, you’ll get a progress bar that corresponds to the download. After it’s finished, the menu will disappear. From here, launch into the game from the PS5’s main menu.

At the game’s main menu, you might not have the option to Continue. If this happens, don’t be alarmed.

Simply go into the Load Game section and you should see your save file there. Select the save file you’d like to load and you’ll boot into the game right where you left off.

Those who do not have PS Plus can also transfer their saves using an external USB stick. Simply copy your save to the stick from your PS4 by visiting Application Data Management from the Settings. Then, take that USB stick and insert it into your PS5. Go into Settings from the PS5’s main menu and then Saved Data and Game/App Settings.

Navigate down to Saved Data (PS4) and you’ll see an option to use a USB drive. Select this and then click on your Cyberpunk 2077 save file. You’ll be prompted to copy it to your PS5. From here, repeat the same process described above, by launching into the game and loading the save file.
