Verizon sells all kinds of phones. From top-of-the-line flagships to discounted budget devices. From iPhone to Android. From phones focused on watching media to phones focused on cameras. No matter what you’re looking for, you’re probably also looking to save some money. Who isn’t? Verizon releases new and interesting deals all the time. The majority of these deals work in a similar fashion, too. You will get the discount on the phone through a series of promotional credits applied to your monthly bill. It may take up to two years to earn all your savings, but that would be worth it when we’re talking about hundreds of dollars.

Best Verizon Plan Deals

While some people (and even other carriers) like to poke fun at Verizon for being more expensive, if you look in the right places you can actually get a plan that meets your needs without spending too much cash. The carrier does offer a variety of different options, and you’ll want to do a little research to figure out which one will be best for you.

Not all of Verizon’s plans are the same. The carrier has various options that offer different data allotments and other key things that may make them work or not for you. First, you’ll want to be sure you have a clear understanding of how much data you use each month. You can contact your current carrier or check your existing bills to see the trend over the past few months. It’s important that you know this because not everyone needs to be on an unlimited plan, and by getting on one you could be over-paying big time each month.

Let’s break down Verizon’s best plan deals now.

Shared Data plans

Small (S) Plan

This is the smallest data allotment available, but still is suitable for the needs of many!

Data: 2GB | Talk & Text: Unlimited

With this plan you get 2GB of data each month, which is generally enough for basic web browsing, social media usage, and communication. If you are someone who relies heavily on streaming music and videos, this may not be the best plan option for you.

Medium (M) Plan

If you need a little more data, but don’t quite need an unlimited amount, here’s a great compromise.

Data: 4GB | Talk & Text: Unlimited

You’d be pretty surprised how much you can get done while out and about with 4GB of data. If you like to occassionally stream a video or listen to a podcast on your commute, or happen to need navigation on all the time, this may be a plan for you. Four gigabytes is a relatively generous amount, and more than 80% of people use less than 3GB per month.

It’s a little more expensive than the 2GB plan, but having double the available data is a great option.

Large (L) Plan

If you stream video, like through Netflix on your phone, then you’ll want to start with a plan like this.

Data: 8GB | Talk & Text: Unlimited

As long as you’re not overdoing it, 8GB is plenty of data that gives you the space to do a few more activities, including streaming or listening to music. Plus, like the other plans, it has carryover data so even if you don’t use the entire allotment this month you can still make use of it in the future. You can also go with this choice if your plan is to share this data with a couple different people and they are the ones that want to watch Hulu or whatever.

Five (5) Plan

The Lone Wolf data plan. Even less expensive than the Medium Plan above, but there’s no sharing this time.

Data: 5GB | Talk & Text: Unlimited

Keep that glorious 5GB data to yourself. You’ll still get all the benefits the other plans come with including unlimited talk and text, the ability to carryover data, and access to Verizon’s 4G LTE network. If you use enough data by yourself, but not so much that you should upgrade to the Large version above, then this exactly the plan you need.

Unlimited plans

The varying tiers of Verizon’s Unlimited plans basically just let you do more with the unlimited data, talk, and text that you have. The idea here is you’re paying a little more at the outset, but you might be saving yourself some money because you don’t have to pay overage charges since there’s nothing to go over. All of these plans come with a free month long trial to YouTube TV and access to Apple Music (some plans only give you that access for six months to start). You can also get a year of Disney+ for free.

Start Unlimited

The most basic unlimited plan but also, obviously, the least expensive. It starts at just $70 with one line or $35 apiece for four lines. You’ll get unlimited data, talk, and text using Verizon’s 4G LTE network. When streaming video, it will typically be limited to around 480p resolution on your smartphone.

Play More

For just $10 more than the basic plan you can add a whole slew of features. Upgrade your video streaming to 720p, get access to Verizon’s 5G network if you have a 5G-enabled phone, and even use your smartphone as a mobile hotspot with up to 15GB a month. Your unlimited data also comes with 25GB of premium data, which just means Verizon will slow you down after you reach that limit.

Do More

This plan reverts the video streaming back to 480p, but it adds more options for anyone who has a lot of different priorities and needs to stay productive. The premium data jumps to 50GB on the Do More plan, so you won’t have to worry about throttling anytime soon. Plus, you can add an unlimited plan to your tablet or jetpack for 50% off (jetpack meaning the mobile hotspot concept) and get 500GB of Verizon Cloud storage so you can backup all your messages, photos, and more.

Get More

The top of the line for Unlimited plans. You’ll gain access to the 5G network, up to 75GB of premium data on the 4G LTE network, and 30GB to use for your mobile hotspot. It also has 720p streaming, access to Apple Music, the 50% off for tablets and jetpack plans, and 500GB of cloud storage. Basically, you get everything with extra room to breathe sprinkled on top.

Just Kids

If you already have one of the Unlimited plans above, you can also get a plan just for your kids that adds a little extra control for you as the parent. Manage their screen time, filter content, and keep track of their phone. This plan includes 5GB of 4G LTE data, unlimited talk and text to contacts you approve, and 480p video streaming.

Single device plans

Once you’re set up with a Verizon account, you can add some of your other devices for reduced costs. These include basic phones, tablets, hotspots, and wearables. For a basic phone, you get unlimited talk and text each month for just $30. You only get 500MB of data with this option, but odds are you aren’t browing the web from a basic phone.

To add a tablet, wearable, or hotspot to your account it costs just $10 per month. This gets you 1GB of data on the device, and with the tablets and wearable you also get unlimited talk and text.

This is a great option for those with a variety of devices that they want to be connected to cellular networks without having to spend a small fortune each month.

Prepaid plans

Bringing your own phone to the table? Already paying for minutes and not really worried about talk or text? Not ready for a two-year commitment? Verizon has you on that front. Just sign up with a prepaid plan that comes with plenty of data to work with. You can even use AutoPay so it feels like a regular plan that you just cut off when you no longer need or want it. Verizon actually gives a $5 discount for using AutoPay, too, so if you’re not using that feature these plans will be a bit more expensive.

The first plan gives you 6GB of high speed data. Essentially this is a 3GB plan and Verizon is just adding another 3GB of data on top of that. It gives you access to the 4G LTE network and lets you use your phone as a mobile hotspot when you need to.

Upgrade ot 16GB and get all the same features of the 6GB plan plus unlimited calling to Mexico or Canada. Go for the Unlimited high speed data plan and you lose the Mobile Hotspot feature, but you also won’t have to worry about your data ever again.
