Best Buy discounts Microsoft Surface Go 2 and Surface Pro 7

Share

Microsoft’s Surface Go 2 and Surface Pro 7 are two of the best 2-in-1 laptops on the shelves right now. Although they resemble each other physically (the Surface Go 2 is smaller though, hence the name), they differ in processing power, port selection, and price. Read on to find out which Surface device suits your budget and needs best, and save as much as $230 when you get them at Best Buy today.

Microsoft Surface Go 2 – $550, was $630

The Surface Go 2 is Microsoft’s most affordable offering right now. As mentioned, it gets its name from the fact that, at just 1.2 pounds with dimensions of 9.65 x 6.9 x 0.33 inches, it’s the most portable Surface device there is, which makes it ideal for people who are always on the go. In comparison, the larger Surface Pro 7 weighs 1.7 pounds, and while it is not exactly heavy, being half a pound lighter certainly has its advantages. The Surface Go 2 is also considerably light in the performance department. While its Intel Core M processor can easily handle basic computing tasks like web browsing, emailing, and document writing with aplomb, it’s not meant for intensive programs.

Its 10.5-inch display has a resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels, which is less sharp than the Surface Pro 7 but is still a pretty good screen in its own right. Although not bundled, we recommend that you purchase the Type Cover keyboard and the Surface Pen to expand the Surface Go 2’s functionality. Finally, the Surface Go 2 has one major edge over the Surface Pro 7: Battery. Despite being the larger device, the Surface Pro 7 can only last for eight hours with continuous use, while the Surface Go 2 was able to last two hours longer. If you’re looking for a tiny and reasonably powerful tablet that’s easy to carry anywhere with you, get the Microsoft Surface Go 2 today for $550 instead of $630 at Best Buy.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 – $799, was $1,029

If you need something powerful enough to replace your PC with, opt for the Surface Pro 7 instead. This 2-in-1 machine boasts an Intel Core i5 processor, which easily trumps the Surface Go 2’s entry-level Intel M chip. It can deftly tackle the most basic of tasks as well as take on CPU-heavy jobs like photo and video editing. Its 12.3-inch panel is stunning, packed with 2736 x 1824 pixels, and bursting with gorgeous colors and perfect contrasts. With an aspect ratio of 3:2, you also get more vertical space for a fuller view of your work, although it also means broader black bars above and below the screen when you’re watching videos.

When it comes to port selection, the Surface Pro 7 got everything covered. It has a USB-C port, a headphone jack, a microSD reader, and a valuable USB-A port. The Surface Go 2 has all these except for the USB-A port, which means you’ll have to purchase a USB dock if you need to connect legacy peripherals to it. Finally, while the Surface Go 2 is cheaper, it doesn’t come bundled with the Type Cover keyboard. Get our choice for the best 2-in-1 laptop of 2020 for $799 instead of $1,029 at Best Buy today — a huge $230 off.
