The EufyCam 2 has been a winning choice since it’s 2019 debut, offering quality 1080p video, local storage, on-device people detection, and no subscription fees. It’s totally wireless and a cinch to install, too.
The entire EufyCam line of security cameras offers incredible all-around value, but there are a few key differences that could make choosing a particular model a bit more clear cut. While the EufyCam 2C represents the least expensive model in the lineup, that doesn’t mean it’s the least capable. In fact, despite the price difference, the 2C is the only model in the EufyCam 2 line that sports a floodlight on the front.
EufyCam 2C offers up 21st Century color
Both the EufyCam 2C and the EufyCam 2 are great, affordable security cameras. As you can guess by their names, they share a lot of features. There are just a couple of distinct features that make the EufyCam 2C an intriguing purchase. While all the cameras in this line sport excellent black and white night vision that’s illuminated with infrared cameras, the EufyCam 2C’s floodlight will illuminate the area in front of it with light that human eyes can perceive. That could be a huge deterrent for would-be thieves, as a bright light coming on suddenly when motion is detected would certainly alarm anyone, especially if they’re trying to not be seen.
The 2C’s floodlight doesn’t just act as a deterrent, though. It’s also used to provide full-color video at night. The advantage of full-color nighttime video is further heightened when there are other lights in the vicinity, such as a porchlight, and users can select between black and white infrared illuminated or full-color spotlight-illuminated video at any time in the app.

EufyCam 2 will give you longer battery life
The EufyCam 2 does have two features that are superior to what the EufyCam 2C offers: longer battery life and anti-theft protection. That extra cost over the EufyCam 2C will net you double the battery life — 12 months on the EufyCam 2 versus six months on the EufyCam 2C — although it’ll vary depending on your settings.
The EufyCam 2 also has a built-in anti-theft mechanism that can detect when it’s being removed from its mount and will emit an ear-splitting siren. That’s particularly fantastic if you’re mounting these cameras low enough where someone can reach it and subsequently remove the security you’ve installed. The EufyCam 2C doesn’t have the hardware inside to detect movement like the EufyCam 2 does, despite both of them having onboard microphones and speakers.
Smaller, cheaper, usually better
While each of these cameras sports a different design and has special features, the choice between the two ultimately comes down to cost. The cheaper EufyCam 2C delivers exactly the right value proposition that makes sense for most people. The 2C’s six-month battery life, 1080p video, infrared black and white and color nighttime video, and built-in floodlight just make sense. It’s also a less assuming shape and looks a bit less like a typical security camera than the EufyCam 2.
Unless you really need one year of battery life or the anti-theft features, the EufyCam 2C is your best bet. Regardless of which one you choose, however, Eufy makes it easy to buy any combination of devices and quickly and easily pair it with a single base station. All you need is one base station and you can add as many EufyCam devices as you’d like.
