An APK teardown of the latest version of the Google Search app for Android TV by the folks at 9To5Google suggests Google is planning to bring Voice Match integration with the Google Assistant to the platform very soon. The “leak” arrives just a few days after Google confirmed that it would soon bring the feature to all Assistant devices, enabling up to six users in a family to get personalized help.
The Voice Match feature makes it possible for the Assistant to recognize you based on your voice and tell you apart from others. The feature uses a unique voice model that is stored on your devices and is sent to Google temporarily to identify you. Voice Match will ensure that your Android TV directly logs you into your Netflix profile and launches Stadia on the right account.
It is possible that the addition of Voice Match on Android TV could be in anticipation of Google’s upcoming Android TV dongle codenamed “Sabrina” and Stadia integration on the platform. The first-party Android TV dongle will come with a remote control featuring a dedicated button for the Google Assistant., a quad-core Armlogic S905X2 quad-core SoC with 4K HDR support, and 2GB of RAM. It isn’t certain when the dongle will be formally launched, but rumors suggest it could be priced at just $80.
