What you need to know

  • ASUS has confirmed that its flagship ROG Phone 3 will be launched in China next month.
  • An exact launch date, however, hasn’t been confirmed yet.
  • It isn’t clear if the phone will also be making its global debut next month.

ASUS and Tencent Games today released a poster on Weibo, confirming that the ROG Phone 3 will debut in China next month. However, the two companies haven’t confirmed an exact launch date yet. We expect the launch date for the Chinese market to be revealed by the end of this month or early next month.

Like its predecessor, the ROG Phone 3 is likely to make its global debut a few weeks after its launch in China. The ROG Phone 2 went on sale in China in July last year, but was launched globally only in September.

As shown by a leaked hands-on video last week, the ROG Phone 3 will be fairly similar to its predecessor in the design department. Under the hood, however, the phone is expected to come with a bunch of major upgrades. It will be powered by an overclocked Snapdragon 865 chipset, rumored to be paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. On the back of the phone will be a triple-camera setup with a 64MP main sensor.

It is expected to have an identical 6.59-inch FHD+ display as the ROG Phone 2, but with a higher 144Hz refresh rate. Keeping the lights on will be a massive 6,000mAh cell with 30W wired fast charging. On the software side of things, the ROG Phone 3 will run Android 10 out of the box, with several gaming-specific customizations added on top.
