At the beginning of this month, we detailed some great deals on iPad Pro Wi-Fi+Cellular models at Best Buy, noting the prices were some of the best we’ve seen since the holiday season. Well, Amazon recently slashed prices on the Wi-Fi only models, with some being the best we’ve seen so far, and Best Buy has lowered some of its prices again, too.
Why the deeper discounts all of a sudden? We’re moving into mid-cycle, which is when most retailers start taking stock of their inventory, and begin cutting prices in an effort to clear out slower-moving models. Generally the prices are the same no matter which color option you choose, but there are some slight differences (in our search, the traditional silver model was always the cheapest).
Here are Amazon’s current prices on the Wi-Fi-only models:
11-inch model
- 64GB – $749, save $50
- 256GB – $915, save $34
- 512GB – $999, save $150
- 1TB – $1,399, save $150
13-inch model
- 64GB – $899, save $100
- 256GB – $1,080, save $69
- 512GB – $1,149, save $200
- 1TB – $1,529, save $220
While cellular connectivity is nice, it does add generally about $100-200 to the cost of the device. Unless you’re frequently away from a Wi-Fi connection, the extra cost between the higher overall prices and the monthly data plan you’ll need to carry for the Wi-Fi+Cellular model might not be worth it.
Regardless what model you choose, the iPad Pro is very close to being the perfect laptop replacement. That’s especially true for the 13-inch model, whose screen size is near that of its MacBook Pro laptop line. Its nearly edge-to-edge brilliant screen and unrivaled performance make it a great device. Combined with the new Apple Pencil, this tablet is well worth its price tag, as long as you have a use for it.
Artists and designers might be best served by an iPad Pro, however the portability makes it useful for a wide set of professionals or tablet power users. The only issues that hold it back from truly being a laptop killer are quirks in iOS itself, but hopefully iOS 13 addresses many of those issues.
If you’re still looking for cellular connectivity and are on the Verizon network, Best Buy’s sales on the Wi-Fi+Cellular models are still ongoing, and we’ve noticed a nearly universal price cut of $50 more across every option except for the 64GB 13-inch model, which remains at $750 (still the best deal we’ve seen for a cellular model at this size).

While prices may continue to fall, as we get later in the cycle it will be harder and harder to find deeply discounted models as retailers sell through their stock and await the new iPad Pro — probably en route sometime later this year. It kind of becomes a game of chicken between you and the retailer.
We don’t recommend waiting too long if you’re looking for a particular size and color option. Prices are already near their lows, and now’s as good a time as ever to get the iPad Pro you want.
