When Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 675 back in October, it invited Xiaomi VP Manu Kumar Jain to talk about the partnership between both brands. At the event, Jain mentioned that Xiaomi would be one of the first manufacturers to roll out a device powered by the gaming-focused Snapdragon 675, with a launch scheduled for early 2019.

We’re now starting to get more details on the device. Xiaomi president Bin Lin shared an image of an upcoming phone on Weibo, and the teaser suggests the device will feature a 48MP rear camera. The phone is set to launch in January 2019, which fits in with the timeline for Xiaomi’s Snapdragon 675-powered device.

Furthermore, the Snapdragon 675 facilitates 48MP sensors in snapshot mode, which further reinforces the notion that Xiaomi’s upcoming phone will be based on Qualcomm’s mid-range 11nm platform. As for the camera itself, it is likely Xiaomi is using Sony’s IMX586 imaging module. The Snapdragon 675 features the latest Cortex A76 cores along with A55 energy-efficient cores, and offers a slew of optimizations designed to provide the best gaming experience on mid-tier phones.

With the phone aimed at the mid-range segment, it’ll possibly debut at around the $300 to $400 price point. We should have more details in the coming weeks, but it sure does look like Xiaomi is set to continue the pace in the handset segment going into 2019.
