How Smart Homes Take Over The World

Share

We are already starting to see some shifts in how people are living their lives at home, especially with the adoption and development of smart technology. Smart homes are a rising trend, with people eager to find ways to make their lives even easier.

A smart home will allow you to monitor, track and control various appliances of your choosing, all of which are connected to your internet and are able to communicate with each other via a device such as a mobile or computer.

2018 and 2019 are the years that mark the rise in the all-in-one devices that combine a range of smart devices such as smart speakers, cameras, hubs, lighting and Wi-Fi. Amazon Echo is a great example of this, as it can be used to control a range of features around your home, from turning on the light to playing your favourite music.

We are starting to see the rise especially in certain industry trends:

  • Voice control– this is the most upwards-rising trend in the industry, with 58% of millennials already having smart home devices equipped with voice control.

  • Home security– It is predicted that home security systems will account for an estimated $47 billion of the total security market, surpassing $100 billion by 2020. These include CCTV, fire and burglar alarms, motion monitors and alarm systems.

  • Remote monitoring and control– There are now a number of products that allow for remote monitoring of a home, with 3 out of 5 Americans buying smart home products to monitor their house via their smartphone.

It seems that in the near future, smart homes will simply be the norm. Thanks to the people from Safe at Last, you can find out more about how smart homes are taking over the world by taking a look at the infographic below.
