Smartphone and tablet accessory group Zagg has confirmed the purchase of battery case maker Mophie for a whopping $100 million.

Announcing the news earlier today, a press release from Zagg says that the partnership will join together two industry leaders in the mobile accessories sector.

Zagg says that the deal will see improvements to manufacturing resources in China, along with a stronger product development team and brand identity.

Group CEO Randy Hales said:

“This strategic combination of two industry innovators with complementary product, brand and distribution platforms will enable us to deliver increased value for our customers and shareholders.”

“We see numerous opportunities to drive revenue growth and increase profitability by leveraging the strengths of both organizations to strengthen product development, improve brand presence, and expand distribution.”

Mophie’s life-giving smartphone cases have proved popular over the years with Android and iOS users alike, with the company’s most recent release treating the Galaxy Note 5. The Mophie case has the capability to add up to 60% of extra battery life, ideal for heavy users on the go.

Daniel Huang, CEO of Mophie, has shared his thoughts on the deal, adding:

“ZAGG and mophie represent two companies with strong brands and shared values. The rationale for the merger is powerful and the combination enhances each company’s growth strategy while offering a truly compelling value proposition. Together, we intend to build on our market leadership to deliver great products, advance the brand strength, and increase our global presence in mobile accessories.”

Between them, Zagg and Mophie are responsible for some of the best smartphone and tablet accessories money can buy. We’re sure we’re not the only ones excited to see where this new partnership leads.
