Huawei announces that 1 million Mate 8 units have been sold in China

The Mate 8 went up for sale on Huawei’s home turf in China about a month ago and has already shown incredible success.

Huawei just announced that it has sold 1 million units of its new Mate 8 smartphone. That’s right, the one that is currently being showcased at CES 2016. The device has been available exclusively in China for the past month and appears to be flying off the shelves. The 1 million mark puts sales right on par with what Huawei was expecting. In fact, prior to the device’s launch, the head of the company’s smartphone division He Gang reported that he’d like to manufacture a million Mate 8 units per month.

The Mate 8 is scheduled to hit quite a few new countries in the close future, unfortunately the U.S. not being one of them. It’ll be interesting to see if the new markets yield similar results to that in China. Only time will tell whether the momentum can keep on rolling forward.
