Facebook has a contingency plan ready in case it’s ever dropped from the Play Store

In the land of search and ad networks, two of the biggest players are Google and Facebook. As you can imagine, Facebook has thought about the situation where Google kicks it off the Android-based Google Play Store – and it’s got a contingency. While it doesn’t look like Facebook will ever have to use said contingency, it’s solution would basically replicate most of the services that you would otherwise get in an app available on the Play Store like updates and in-app purchases.

Facebook has gone so far as to test user’s patience by making its app crash to see whether users would stop using its social network or just gravitate to accessing the network via its mobile website. As it turns out, people would use the mobile website just as happily as they would use the normal app. This contingency has existed for some years now, though it seems less and less likely that the Mountain View company will ever need to pull this rabbit out of the hat given that it has started mending ties with Google, starting with allowing Google search results in the Facebook app.
