Nest is sending out an update to all of its thermostats that will allow them to make small changes in-order to keep your house at the ideal temperature. Nest says it has done this by creating even better algorithms that take into consideration things like weather, drafts, and your schedule.

Also, Nest says the update will allow the thermostats to maintain your home’s temperature up to 20% closer to the original temperature you have set. For example, if you have set the heat to 70ºF, Nest Thermostats will now be much more efficient at holding that temperature.

  • Nest Thermostats will now maintain the temperature in your home up to 20% closer to the temperature you’ve set.
  • Multi-stage heating systems can now save 3.8% more energy, heat pumps can save 6.5% more, and multi-stage cooling systems can save 5.4% more than they have before.
  • Time-to-Temperature, Early-On and Heat Pump Balance will get better.

Frequent updates is the real benefit to using a Nest Thermostat. Normally, you buy a thermostat and it just sits there for years and years. However, Nest will always be looking at ways to improve theirs, and send you updates once they do. This new update is said to be rolling out over the next couple of weeks.
