Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro TENAA

A Redmi Note 2 Pro handset has just been spotted passing through China’s TENAA, which looks set to be Xiaomi’s successor to the Redmi Note 2 that launched earlier in the year. This handset has been rumored to be heading to market for a while now, and the arrival at TENAA suggests that the time could be nearing.

The smartphone again looks to ship with a smooth metal body design and there appears to be space for a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone, a first for Xiaomi. This metal casing seems to add a little weight and thickness to the handset though, coming in at 165g compared to the original 160g.

The listing also gives us a look at the Pro’s hardware specifications. They appear to be be the same as the 5.5-inch 1080p Redmi Note 2, so the handset will come with a MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage space, a 3060mAh battery and a 13 megapixel rear 5 megapixel front camera combination.

We don’t have a launch date or price tag for the Redmi Note 2 Pro yet, but it is likely to cost slightly more than its predecessor. We can probably expect something in the region of 1,099 Yuan ($172) for the Pro variant, compared with 999 Yuan ($158) for the regular Note 2.
