Sony announced today via an email to customers and a notice on its website that it will be shutting down its online store come August 28 at 1pm PST. If you were looking to buy a device straight from Sony, you’ll need to act fast.
It’s not clear as to why Sony is shutting down the online store, however, it could be entirely possible that its US store just isn’t receiving enough customers. Sony did say that it will “soon unveil a new online product showcase and more ways to shop.” We’re not entirely sure what it entails, but Sony could drop some hints during its scheduled announcement next week.
It’s also not clear as to whether this just affects the US store or other regions as well.
Either way, if you’ve got store credit or gift cards lying around, now is the best time to go on a shopping spree!
