A new Google Maps for Android update that will soon be released will bring a new “full-screen view” feature that will let you hide away all unnecessary user interface distractions while navigating a map. With a single tap, Maps will automatically hide away all distractions such as the search bar that can cover map content to give you a full-screen view of your map. Unfortunately, according to Android Police, the new map view feature will not be supported during turn-by-turn navigation. Another feature that the new 9.1 Maps update will bring is the ability to share saved maps. Finally, you will now have the ability to edit the caption of location tagged photos that are available in “your places” section of the app.

Google hasn’t rolled the update yet and if you don’t want to wait to get the new features of Google Maps 9.1, Android Police has the app update available for download.
