Just because the Moto G is not a Motorola flagship, does not mean Motorola treats it like a second-class citizen. Updates to the Moto G are equally as important as its Moto X as evidenced by users who are receiving Android Lollipop 5.0.1 today. No official press release was announced by Motorola for this update, but users of Droidlife are reporting in screenshots of the update. Since there was no official announcement, details of the update are not yet known.
Check your system settings on your Moto G and check for updates. Let us know below in the comments if you are getting the update to 5.0.1.
