Get unlimited photo editing filters with Shift for Android

Share

The problem with many photo editing apps on Android is the inability to customize filters to your liking. Sure, VSCO Cam and other similar apps allow you to dial down the filter after you select it, but after that you’re stuck editing your picture with the same routine of brightness, contrast, and saturation. If you’re looking for a bit more control with your filters, you should try out Shift. The app started out as an iOS exclusive and has just made its way to Android for free.

The premise of Shift is simple: if you don’t like one of the app’s pre-installed filters, you can edit them. If a certain spot on a photo looks too odd with the selected filter, drag one of the three focus points on the image and try to get a combination that works for you. One thing to keep in mind is that you can’t choose the three filters that are presented in each overlay. The only control you have over filter selection is a random button that provides an array of different filters. We found ourselves hitting this button too many times before we could find a combination that worked well. Once you find one that suites your needs, you can adjust the intensity of it, and save it for later use. The app is lacking the ability to use basic editing features like adjusting brightness, contrast, or really anything else. So if you’re looking for an all-in-one photo editing tool, this app may not be for you. However, in our time with the app, we’ve produced some pretty decent results that we wouldn’t mind posting on social media.

Shift offers an interesting way of editing photos, and though it may not be the most intuitive or convenient, you may like some of the results you produce. If you’re interested in trying it out, follow the link below to download Shift for free in the Play Store.
