Android Studio 1.0: a new way to develop apps

android studio

At Google I/O 2013, developers had the opportunity to test drive a new program to develop Android apps with, Android Studio. Today, Android Studio 1.0 has been released as an available download.

Android Studio

Android Studio uses the IntelliJ IDEA (Community Edition) Java Integrated Development Environment, and is now the official IDE from Android. It has a bunch of new features to help you continue or start developing apps for the most popular platform on the planet. From a new startup wizard, to user interface design, performance analysis, Google Cloud integration access, and more.

The blog announcement says there will be four channels for Android Studio that are just like Chrome: Stable, Beta, Dev, and Canary, with Stable being fully tested and Canary being the newest features. If you are using Eclipse, you can import and migrate all your work to Android Studio with the wizard they have set up.

With Android Studio, developers should now have a better time coding for all the different types of Android devices, and easily implement Google’s newest guidelines for App development.

Check out the blog announcement here for more details.
