Share

The Moto X 2014 is one of Motorola’s biggest flagships of the year and features a beautiful design with great build quality. Many of you will want to keep that aspect of the Moto X intact and the best way to do that is with a case. The Moto X certainly doesn’t have the largest third party accessory support but we are here to round up some of the best ones you can get for your Moto X 2014. Check them out below!

Do not get confused, the below cases in this list will only fit the Moto X (2014, 2nd gen), click here for the best Moto X (2013) cases.

TUDIA Ultra Slim LITE TPU case for Moto X 2014

Looking for a slim, lightweight, and inexpensive case to protect your Moto X 2014? The Tudia Ultra slim is a perfect solution. This is a pretty standard TPU case that only takes a couple seconds to install and provides 360 degrees of protection while keeping your Moto X feeling slim in the hand. There’s also a nicely sized lip on the front for protection the screen or laying your phone face down. The case fits very nice and snug to the Moto X and all the important cutouts line up perfectly. The volume and power keys are covered but the feedback is great and they’re very easy to press. The only downside that I find to this case is that the Motorola dimple is covered up but it’s an otherwise very solid case. Available colors include clear, black, purple, and teal.

Diztronic Flexible TPU case for Moto X 2014

The Diztronic TPU case is another slim and lightweight case for the Moto X 2014 that’s very similar to the TUDIA. It takes only a couple seconds to install and fitment is pretty good but not quite as snug compared to the TUDIA. It’s not going to fall off in daily use but you will notice that the sides especially around areas with less material like the usb port are easy to pull away from the phone. The cutouts however all line up well but like the TUDIA case there is no cutout for the Motorola dimple. Like most TPU cases it’s not going to provide maximum protection but it will provide enough to withstand the average drop. Available colors include turquoise, pink, black, and blue.

Otterbox Defender for Moto X 2014

If slim and lightweight isn’t your style and you want more maximum protection than Otterbox has you covered with their very popular defender case. The case is comprised of two parts, three if you count the belt clip. The inner part is a hard plastic shell with a built in screen protector and the outer layer is rubber tpu material for shock absorption. The case does take a few minutes to install but once you get it on it fits very snug. The cutouts are nice and spacious and the case features flaps for the 3.5 mm headset jack and micro usb port to protect from dust and dirt. Unlike the previous two cases, the Defender does a great job of showing off the Motorola dimple. The case will make your Moto X feel very bulky in the hand but that is the trade off when you want more protection. Available colors include black, blue, purple, and pink.

Poetic Affinity for Moto X 2014

If you’re looking for something a little bit thicker and more protective than a TPU case but not quite as bulky as an Otterbox than the Poetic Affinity is a great option. The case is a hybrid design with hard plastic on the back and tpu on the sides but it’s a single piece so it only takes a few seconds to install. All the cutouts are nice and spacious but they’re a little bit deep so you might have trouble fitting in thicker 3.5 mm headset jacks. The case also features a cutout for your sim tray which the previous cases that we’ve mentioned do not include. The Motorola dimple is covered so you don’t have the luxury of feeling it but it’s still easily visible through the clear back. The biggest flaw with this case is the coverings for the power and volume keys. The travel is decent but not quite enough to feel satisfying. Otherwise, it’s a great case if you want a fair amount of protection without making your phone overly bulky. As of right now this case is only available in a black and clear option.

Exact Leather Wallet Flip Case for Moto X 2014

Our final case for the Moto X is for anyone looking to combine their phone and wallet into one. The case features a plastic shell on the inside for holding the phone in place and the wallet portion is made of faux leather for a more luxurious feel in the hand. The camera and microphones are perfectly exposed and the top and bottom of the phone is completely open for easy access to your sim card, 3.5 mm headset jack, and micro usb port. Like many other cases the Motorola dimple is also hidden with this case unfortunately. Inside you will find two slots for credit cards and a fairly large side pocket for more cards or extra cash. The downside is this case does not feature sleep to wake functionality so you’ll still have to put your phone to sleep with the traditional power button and taking photos with it can feel rather awkward. Outside of those two minor issues it does everything else it was meant to do very well. Available colors include brown, green, pink, red, white, and black.
