Kenu Airframe+ Review: A Car Mount for Phablets

I have been looking for a quality car mount for my smartphone for a while and have spent close to $100 on mounts that would either break or not work. I had to have one that fit on an air vent, but it could not be too bulky. After using the Kenu Airframe+ for a few weeks, my months of searching are over. The Airframe+ is the newest car mount from Kenu designed specifically for large screen phones. It is able to hold phones as large as the Note 4 and Iphone 6+ with large cases such as the Otterbox Defender left on. Kenu says that the Airframe+ can hold phones with up to 6-inch screens. If you have a smaller phone, do not worry because it can also hold much smaller phones such as the 2013 Moto X and the iPhone 4s.

When you open the Airframe+, you get the mount itself and simple instructions on how to setup and use the mount. On the side of the box is a ruler to show how large the Airframe+’s jaws can open. If your phone’s width fits between the ends of the ruler, the Airframe+ can hold your phone. The mount itself is extremely well made. The construction is sturdy but lightweight and made of ABS, TPE, stainless steel, and zinc alloy. For such a quality mount, the Airframe+ weighs in at under one ounce. The entire mount has a rubberized, grippy texture which ensures that it will provide a great grip on your phone and car without scratching or damaging either. The jaws of the Airframe+ are spring loaded and held on to my 2013 Moto X without a single slip or slide. Although the jaws hold tightly to your phone, it is easy to insert and remove you phone with just one hand which is a much welcomed convenience. Since your phone is only being gripped on two places on either side, the ports on top and bottom are completely open so you can plug in your charging cable without having to navigate around the mount. If you prefer to view your phone in landscape for GPS, music, etc. the Aiframe+ can turn 360 degrees without having to be taken off your air vent. The Airframe+ can also double as a phone stand when a credit card is inserted into the back.

The Airframe+ withstood all the tests I put it through and passed them all. It held on to my Moto X through all the quick turns and steep hills I took it on without letting it slip once. It is by far the best car mount I have ever used and with its high quality construction I do not imagine I will need another one anytime soon. You can purchase the Kenu Airframe+ from their website for $29.95.

What I liked:

  • High quality construction
  • Light weight
  • Good grip on phone
  • No damage to phone or air vent
  • Easy installation
  • Simple one-handed use

What I did not like:

  • I found nothing to complain about with the Airframe+. Kenu hit it out of the park with this product.
