AT&T introduced a new $45 prepaid GoPhone plan today, while also announcing changes in how they handle data overages.  The new GoPhone plan includes: unlimited nationwide voice calling; unlimited nationwide text, picture and video messages; unlimited text messages from the U.S. to Mexico, Canada and over 100 other nations; and 1GB of data.  This will actually be AT&T’s fourth GoPhone Prepaid plan.  The new $45 GoPhone plan gives customers a 1GB data package as an option.  Previously, you could get 500MB for $40 or move up to 2.5GB for $60.  This will certainly give customers some new options when considering which GoPhone plan they should purchase.

However, the bigger news might be that AT&T is going to start throttling your data speeds to 128Kbps if you go over your data allotment.  In the past AT&T would simply cut you off as soon as you went over your limit, unless you decided to purchase additional data packages.  I’m sure this will be great news for current GoPhone customers, while also making the prepaid options more attractive to perspective customers.  If your interested in an AT&T GoPhone plan, hit the link to check it out.
